MARCH 2016 WAS THE 5TH WARMEST MARCH ON RECORD WITH AN AVERAGE
TEMPERATURE OF 33.4 DEGREES. THIS IS 6.8 DEGREES ABOVE THE NORMAL
OF 26.6 DEGREES. THE WARMER MARCHES ON RECORD ARE:

1965- AVERAGE TEMPERATURE OF 36.5 DEGREES
1984- AVERAGE TEMPERATURE OF 36.4 DEGREES
1970- AVERAGE TEMPERATURE OF 35.4 DEGREES
1981- AVERAGE TEMPERATURE OF 34.3 DEGREES

THE ONLY DAY IN MARCH WITH A BELOW NORMAL AVERAGE TEMPERATURE
OCCURRED ON THE 19TH. THE WARMEST HIGH TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH
WAS 53 DEGREES ON THE 31ST. THIS SET A DAILY RECORD AND ALSO SET A
MONTHLY RECORD FOR HIGHEST MARCH TEMPERATURE RECORDED AT THE
ANCHORAGE AIRPORT...BREAKING THE OLD RECORD OF 51 DEGREES. THE
COLDEST LOW TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH OF 16 DEGREES OCCURRED ON
THE 19TH.

0.60 INCHES. THE WETTEST MARCH ON RECORD WAS 1979...WHICH RECORDED
2.76 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION. THE WETTEST DAY OF THE MONTH WAS
THE 19TH...RECORDING 0.35 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION.

MARCH 2016 RECORDED 10.7 INCHES OF SNOW. THE NORMAL SNOWFALL FOR
MARCH IS 9.9 INCHES. MARCH IS THE THIRD MONTH THIS SEASON TO
RECORD HIGHER THAN AVERAGE MONTHLY SNOWFALL. SEPTEMBER 2015 AND
NOVEMBER 2015 ALSO RECORDED HIGHER THAN AVERAGE MONTHLY
SNOWFALL. OCTOBER...NOVEMBER ...JANUARY AND FEBRUARY ALL RECORDED
LOWER THAN AVERAGE MONTHLY SNOWFALL.
